The Law No. 11-1976, as amended, known as the Comprehensive Health Services ReformAct of Puerto Rico designatesthe Puerto Rico Medical Licensing and Disciplinary Board (JLDM, by its Spanishacronym), along with health professional examining boards, to operate under theDepartment of Health. This arrangement is aimed at providing administrativesupport and streamlining processes. The Office of Regulation and Certificationof Health Professionals (ORCPS, by its Spanish acronym) and JLDM, establishedby the Department of Health, oversee and support the thirty-five examiningboards responsible for regulating the licensing processes of healthprofessionals.
Furthermore,Law No. 75-2019, known as the “Puerto Rico Innovation and Technology ServicePRITS) Act”, outlines PRITS’ responsibility for effectively managing,developing, coordinating, and interagency integrating innovation, technologyinfrastructure, and informatics within the Government of Puerto Rico. PRITS is entrustedto develop specific technological projects in an organized and integratedmanner to facilitate the effective integration of technology into governmentoperations. Consequently, this Service Contract Opportunity Notice (SCON) isissued to request proposals for the development of a platform to digitizeprocesses conducted by the ORCPS and the JLDM.
Theselected proponents will collaborate closely with the Office of InformationSystems and Technological Advances (OIAT, by its Spanish Acronym) staff andPRITS personnel, alongside other key stakeholders, to develop a platform thataddresses the needs of ORCPS and JLDM, ensuring a smooth and efficientintegration of technology into healthcare licensing processes.
